I’m the kind of person who wants to help people but other times I don’t. But really. I don’t understand how people don’t want help when they need it. It bugs me a lot for some reason.

mishacolins:

People feel different i guess. Some people feel like they don’t want to be dependent on help from others

Speaking as one of those people, ime a lot of people who offer help either 1. do so conditionally/with strings attached (e.g., so that they’ll then be owed a favor) or 2. do so without the intention of being taken up on the offer (i.e., they’re “just being nice” but don’t actually want to do anything).

As a result, very often if someone offers to help me it just makes me suspicious. And it makes me a bit sad every time, because I know that there are also many people who genuinely do want to help, but the other stuff has been really deeply and repeatedly ingrained, so.

(Also, sometimes I’d just prefer to do things myself, especially when I know I can manage, but that’s mostly for stuff like reaching something on a high shelf or opening a stuck jar.)

robotmango:

when i forget to log into ao3 and i have to click proceed to see an adult fic, i actually get a kick out of it. like i am an old timey queen and my bard is apologetic: “gentle lady, dicks doth touch in this next ballad. would you prefer another?” and i give him a gesture of command like, “nay, you may proceed, minstrel. bring forth the tale of dicks”

Bit of an odd question, but… Is there any website or place where it would be possible to promote a serial story that is being published with art that isn’t fandom based? I know tumblr adores fandom stories and artwork, but is there any love for original fiction here, too?

Oh, absolutely! There’s lots of original work on tumblr, like areyoutryingtodeduceme’s comic Marked. You could also ask archiaart or lackadaisycats, both of whom do amazing work they post on tumblr and elsewhere.

If it’s m/m, you might try Shousetsu Bang Bang. (Although the sidebar description says “oneshots,” I’m fairly certain there’ve been multi-part stories as well.)
