Erik is alone at sea, mutated to breathe underwater with gills behind his ears (I mean come on, perfect role for a shark!!). He gets captured and put in a cage, where a trader named Charles gets far too interested in his mutation, and sets him free providing he takes Charles and his little 10 year old sister Raven on his boat and takes them to dry land. Erik only said that so he’d let him out, he has no idea nor cares where dry land is, so he ends up with Charles and Raven unwanted on his boat.

Charles was a trader, so he can’t fish, can’t fight, can’t even swim, completely useless, and Erik frequently threatens to just throw them both overboard. One night Charles puts Raven to sleep inside then tells Erik he’s not completely useless, there is one thing he can do for him, for Erik has been at sea alone his whole life, so Charles proceeds to strip right there and then under the moonlight.

Erik looks him up and down, never seeing another naked human body, and has no idea what Charles is doing.

I would read the shit out of this.

Ways Erik looks at Charles.

#The way Erik adjusts his fingers in the 3rd gif, from both being on Charles’ coat sleeve to one moving just enough to touch Charles’ skin.

#The last gif, where Charles just quickly pats Erik, has always struck me as awkward because even though we don’t really see them being touchy-feely with each other, the intensity of their chemistry is so strong at this point that such a gesture feels strange. Every time I see this scene arcanewinter’s line in her fic A Measure of Peace comes to mind: “…clapping Erik on the shoulder in some awkward assurance that he did in fact know the sort of contact they were supposed to be having”. That is what this feels like. Moira just interrupted something incredibly intimate (Erik having performance issues and Charles “going inside” him and reminding him he’s good, enabling Erik to “get it up”, both of them crying along the way), kind of reminding the boys of their situation and causing them (or Charles anyway) to revert back to what is “acceptable” by society. Don’t forget folks, Charles is afraid of being visibly different. That’s why he’s afraid of Raven slipping up and showing who she really is. He knows society isn’t ready for whatever he and Erik are(even in the most non-romantic canon these are two men eternally bound to each other). So instead he gives Erik this awkward good-job-dude pat and doesn’t wait up for him. And Erik just stands there still kinda winded by it all.

Or maybe I’m just reading into too much here. I need some sequel news before I start going through this movie framebyframe for more headcanons.

And I would not mind at all if you framebyframed the movie.

Richard and jailbait Kevin.

This seriously looks like dapper-as-fuck Michael Fassbender is keeping teenage-jailbait James McAvoy hostage, and James really wants to be pissed of at this guy but he treats him so well and gives him whatever he wants and goddamn he is a pretty motherfucker.

And he realizes that Michael/Erik (sorry, not that into RPF, can’t help thinking Erik instead) actually treats him way better than his family ever did, like’s a person with the right to have feelings, and when the ransom comes in he hides it and doesn’t tell Erik it ever arrived because he doesn’t want to go home.

I think this and close variations has been written multiple times. Once in Bonnie and Clyde Didn’t Work Alone and I remember there’s another somewhere where Erik kidnaps Charles…and Charles tries to convince him that Marko won’t pay up, but it’s possibly lost in the depth of the meme….

Oh, I remember THAT ONE! It was great…wasn’t finished tho….I think someone with a Z-name wrote it….Z-I-M…..something…..

That would be Let Hope Burn in Your Eyes by zimothy. WIP, but she mentioned a little while back that she might continue it.

#the way Charles prepares himself in this scene shows exactly how much he loves Erik, because he can’t talk to him or try to dissuade him from what he’s about to do. he knows Erik’s going to do it and there’s no stopping him, but letting go of Shaw would mean he would die so Charles holds on and doesn’t let Shaw go and he suffers through that pain so that Erik can live and Erik can get his revenge and Erik can be free. Charles feels what it’s like to die for Erik because of Erik and he doesn’t hold it against him at all.

Okay. I give. I will go see this again this weekend.

So I hear this rumor that the vast majority of XMFC fic is Erik/Charles.  Which cracks me up, because I’ve written so much Charles/Erik that I actually think of Erik/Charles as kind of kinky and naughty.  XD XD XD

Reasons why helens78 is probably my favorite XMFC author. (There are many.)

(Though I actually have a slight preference for Erik/Charles, but it makes so much more sense for there to be both. And it makes me so, so happy that there is tons of Charles/Erik being written.)
