help a good boy out.

Hi guys, I’m hoping you might be able to help.

I adopted my best friend six years ago. He was four years old, and had infections in both of his eyes, but he didn’t let that stop him. He’s also a pug (see above) named Moco.

Moco’s eye infections left him with dry eye and a disorder called pigmentary keratitis. This means that his big, beautiful eyes don’t produce enough tears and that his immune system desperately wants to cover his eyeballs with pigment. Moco’s conditions are treated with eye drops (twice a day, or more, everyday) but they are also progressive.

Moco is now almost entirely blind. The vet assures me that this is worse for me than it is for Moco, but Moco’s eye issues have reached a point where his worse eye needs to be removed otherwise he may suffer from severe infection. His eye is bloody and scabbed over, but he doesn’t let it slow him down. He’s still a loving best boy. I want him to be as well as possible but I cannot afford the surgery he needs.

Moco is my dearest companion and I wouldn’t ask for help if it weren’t dire. We are grateful for any contribution you can offer toward his surgery. I suffer from bipolar disorder and having a pet helps keep my illness at bay; in many ways Moco saved my life. Please help me save his.

I have set up a GoFundMe at the suggestion of a friend, but I also have a Ko-Fi account for donations. If you like my writing, or just like pugs, or understand the incredible healing power of pets, I hope you’ll pass along this post. I have no expectations, I know it’s a lot to ask; thank you for even reading this <3.
